Here's my solution. I keep my door really, really dirty and the birds stay away. Well, I should be clearer: My kids keep my door really, really dirty, and the birds stay away.
That reminds me of the commercial with the birds and windex...where they close the door and make the guy run into the really clean window-pretty funny. Hopefully your birds aren't that smart...
It must be the birds in the neighborhood - it has happened to us twice as well! :)
